"He was a self employed knife maker. He retired after twenty years of service at DuPont Savannah River Site as a machinist. He was a member of and past president of the Knife Makers Guild, and SC Association of Knife Makers. He was also a proud member of the NRA. Mr. Herron served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army." "George Herron was an amazing part of the custom knife community. He was well known for his amazingly designed and crafted stock removal knives, and has a significant collector following. He founded the South Carolina Knifemakers Guild, he was past president of the Knifemakers Guild, and in 1987 he was inducted into the Blade Cutlery Hall of Fame. Sadly, George passed away in 2007, but his legacy still runs strong."
